Phase diagram
The thermochemical behaviour for North Cape Nepheline Syenite is shown on the
phase diagram where North Cape Nepheline Syenite, according to its chemical
composition, is plotted at point(+). This point lies on the line between the
mineral feldspar and the mineral nepheline. it can be seen that nepheline and
silica are not coexistent at high temperatures. They react readily, thus forming
feldspar. this is one of the main reasons for the high dissolution rate of quartz
in the glass matrix of a ceramic body containing North Cape Nepheline
Syenite.
